For a hassle free wedding The Original Dhow Safaris will handle all the legal paperwork involved in getting married in Zanzibar.
You will be required to send the following certified documentation to our office at least 2 months prior the actual date of marriage to allow us to carry out the whole process for you. We will make sure that the government official will be at the wedding to officially conduct the ceremony as well as a priest for a religious ceremony.

REGIONAL COMMISSIONER WEDDING REQUIREMENTS:
Need to provide the following in a document certified by a Public Notary:
1. Application letter (must be in English and signed by both parties) indicating that both applicants are single and want to marry in Zanzibar (extremely important) with the intended date of marriage. This document should include the following information: domicile, birth registration information, names, birth dates and birthplace of parents and should be

addressed to:

2. Affidavit confirming that neither party is currently married (if divorced – documents
certifying that the previous union has been dissolved; if widow/ed copy of death
certificate)

3. Two photocopies of your passport
4. Two passport photographs
5. Birth certificates

ANGLICAN WEDDING REQUIREMENTS:
1. Birth Certificate
2. Certificate of Baptism. (This is essential for all church weddings)
3. A statement that both the bride and groom are single
4. A letter from their parish indicating that the parish has no objection to the marriage
5. Two photocopies of your passport
6. Two passport photographs

CATHOLIC WEDDING REQUIREMENTS:
1. Birth Certificate
2. Letter of consent from the parents (or other family elder if the parents are deceased)
3. Letter from their parish indicating that the guests have fulfilled all requirements for to the marriage within the Catholic Church and that the parish has no objections to the marriage. This should also indicate that they have received their 1st Communion as well as Confirmation.
4. Two photocopies of your passport
5. Two passport photographs

PLEASE NOTE
Civil Wedding will have to take place in the Regional Commissioners Office.
The Original Dhow Safaris must receive all this information at 2 months prior to the intended date of marriage. Prior to the ceremony, the couple must meet with the Officials to verify all documentation.

This can be the same days as the ceremony.
Documents must be sent by registered mail or courier in order to ensure delivery.
We cannot accept responsibility for any documents sent by other means.
Please note that requirements and processing periods in Zanzibar are subject to change without reason or prior notification. The Original Dhow Safaris does not accept any liability whatsoever for changes which occur.
