How quickly three years has passed since Gallery Tours and Safaris started. Promoting this incredibly unique and beautiful island has always been an ambition of mine, and it’s my pleasure to do it through the highest quality service and products. We are dedicated to promoting Zanzibar in this light, just as I have done through publishing my numerous books on the beauty of Zanzibar and East Africa. 

As with photography, I saw there was a lack of quality service on the archipelago of Zanzibar. It was the perfect opportunity to develop Gallery Tours and Safaris, where we would focus on improving the simplest of services such as hotel bookings, transfers and excursions. As a young company, we are fortunate to have enthusiastic and energetic staff, who are committed to delivering a cut above the rest. Attention to detail and a personal touch are important to us and our guides, drivers and reservation staff, all of who will go the extra mile to make your holiday special.

We are also committed to our external relationships and I am proud to say that we have formed a strong alliance with Zanzibar Serena Inn. Working closely with Serena we bring the unique experience of our quality sailing excursions with The Original Dhow Safaris. Recently we have formulated a number of new daily excursions leaving from Serena, these include Prison Island to Mangapwani Beach, Sunrise Breakfast Cruise and Menai Bay Dhow Cruise.

Private Charters are also readily available to take you to the destination of your choice. Gallery Tours has also introduced various new excursions such as whale watching tours, yoga retreats, dolphin sunset tours from Kizimkazi, and Swahili cultural tours. We have a travel desk at La Gemma Dell' Est in Ras Nungwi, Zamani Kempinski, Dreams of Zanzibar, Mapenzi and Fairmont Zanzibar. The commitment to quality excursions has allowed us to expand and to cater our services to more hotels in Zanzibar.

Gallery Tours has gone from strength to strength and now boasts a fleet of vehicles ranging from 20 seater busses, Hiaces, luxury Elegrands and Land Cruisers. By the end of February we are expecting another four vehicles which will be added to our fleet, making 26 in total. We have every type of vehicle for every client. The Original Dhow Safaris has four dhows, all hand crafted in Nungwi, the heart of the dhow making community in Zanzibar. We continue to market abroad and have participated in numerous trade fairs such as World Travel Market, Fitur in Spain, ITB in Berlin, and Indaba in South Africa. If you are visiting any of these fairs, please contact me to make an appointment to meet and discuss our services.  

Late 2009 saw many changes to our web site. Many video clips were added and a 40 minute DVD is ready for marketing purposes.  The 98 page catalogue 'Destination Zanzibar' has also been distributed in major fairs and exhibitions abroad. The start of 2010 brought a lot of positive changes to the company. David Alex was appointed our new GM.  David has been with the company for the last 18 months and has excelled in services. Previous to his promotion, David was the Opeartions Manager, responsible for making sure that all services ran smoothly. This year he will be representing Gallery Tours at ITB and Indaba with me.

Gallery Tours now has UK representation with a Marketting Agent who will push UK sales for Gallery Tours. We welcome Tessa Bott to the team of Gallery Tours. 

I am dedicated to promoting Zanzibar and this year, two of my new projects are getting underway. Jafferji House, a luxurious  property in the heart of Stone Town, is currently under construction with plans to open late July 2010. I am also finalising a large gift shop on Shangani under the the name of Bazaar @Zanzibar Gallery. The door will open in Mid march  this year. More surprises will come, watch this space.
