On a deserted white sandy beach, at 65 km from Stone Town, lies Karafuu Hotel Beach resort, an international five-star hotel, winner of the World Travel Awards as Tanzania Leading Resort, for the third time again in 2009.
It is one of the most luxurious hotels on the east coast of Zanzibar, where, even during low tide, it’s possible to enjoy a comfortable swim in the ocean. A concrete path in front of the hotel leads to a permanent natural depression in the ocean, offering a natural swimming pool.
All rooms are extremely pleasant and styled in a traditional Zanzibar theme, with Makuti thatch and whitewashed coral, complete with all comforts: independent air conditioning, hot and cold running water, hair-dryer, telephone, Minibar, tea/coffee maker and safe box. They are divided into three categories: 26 Junior Suites (all sea facing with spectacular front sea view), are situated along the beachfront under a beautiful palm-grove or on a small hill;35 Cottages situated on a gentle slope just behind the junior suites. Most of them offer a partial view of the sea through the lush palm tree tops; 28 Garden located at the top of the slope in the lush tropical gardens.
The hotel has all the expected facilities: luxury reception & lounge, boutique, beauty & massage salon, two conference rooms, business centre, 2 bars, TV area with digital satellite, internet point, games room, kinder garden, tennis courts and an enormous pool with kids pool. Karafuu Hotel has 3 Restaurants, including the Main Restaurant called “Marikiti”, with Sea View Terraces serving Breakfast buffet and a variety of international Lunches and buffet Dinners at theme changing every day. The Grand Bleu Restaurant, on the beachfront facing the Ocean, serving lunches and sandwiches and “à la carte” Menus for fresh sea-food dinners. The Floating Restaurant an open air structure is located 200 metres in front of Kae beach in the Indian Ocean, serving a lobster menu “All In” (opened upon request and tide permitting)
