The name Bagamoyo comes from the Swahili words “bwaga moyo”, meaning “throw down your heart,” an expression by people who were captured as slaves, knowing that they faced an uncertain future.
Depart from Dar es Salaam at 08:00hrs and drive to the historical Bagamoyo town where the day will be spent visiting the Kaole Ruins, Old Fort, Holy Ghost Mission and Caravan Sarai Museum.
Bagamayo was also the last burial place of the internationally renowned explorer David Livingstone before his body was laid to eternally rest in Westminster, London.
