Trip to Kwale Island – Menai Bay Dhow Discovery Tour – Full Day

Home to beautiful, uninhabited islands, this stunning area is frequented by humpback and bottlenose dolphins. Day trippers will have the chance to snorkel the pristine reef and enjoy a sumptuous baby lobster barbeque lunch prepared by the culinary experts . A magical day!

To explore this beautiful and untouched area join a full day excursion using locally made tradition sailing dhows.

The dhows are fitted with outboard engines, life jackets, sunshades, first aid kits and water proof bags.

We started our safari to Kwale Island from Bweleo village, a distance of 20.8km (approx) from Zanzibar town at 09:30hrs.

Visit Komodo Island
This area is whitish beach and clear bluish unpolluted water that is located in Meani bay, you can enjoy swimming and having fun along the beach. At Komodo island also is the best place for snorkeling, you can do snorkeling here to the heart’s satisfaction, our guides will lead you under water to view the conserved corals and marine life. We have life jackets for those who are not good at swimming. From Komodo we sail to the sandbank where it’s the highlight of Menai bay, it is a must to any visitor in this area. You can lay here under a special shade constructed to keep off the sun or sunbathe if you want on the white sand beach. Our guide will offer fresh coconut (madafu) and Zanzibar season fruits.

Visit Blue Lagoon
Blue Lagoon is a natural swimming pool whereby during the low tide the water is getting out and during high tide the water is getting in. The area is surrounded by mangrove plantation.

Dolphin View
Menai bay is commonly known as home to Dolphins, you can watch and swim with dolphins. There’s about an 80% chances to see dolphins at Menai bay.

Baobab Tree
This is an amazing ancient big tree 500 years old. It is believed that about 70 years ago bowed down by a storm and its branches continued growing.

Lunch is a traditional Zanzibar buffet and it includes seafood barbecue buffet on the beach. You then enjoy tropical fruits, cold drinks are available throughout the day. After lunch you will be served a coffee and dessert. Experience Zanzibar local dances which are performed to entertain our guests during lunch.

While on the way from Kwale island, you will enjoy the traditional sailing using the hand built wooden dhows.
